Canada Council for the Arts

The Canada Council for the Arts is a national arm's length agency created in 1957 to "foster and promote the study and enjoyment of, and the production of works in, the arts." The Canada Cultural Investment Fund (formerly the Canadian Arts and Heritage Sustainability Program) supports arts and heritage organizations in adopting measures to improve their financial stability and to develop modern management practices.

Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit

The Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit is a fully refundable tax credit for films and videos produced and owned by Canadian corporations.

Canada Feature Film Fund

The overall goal of the Canada Feature Film Fund (CFFF) is to increase Canadian audiences in theatres for Canadian feature films, aiming to capture 5% of the domestic box office by 2006. In meeting this goal, the Department of Canadian Heritage expects that more than a proportional increase will occur in the English-language market.

The Canada Music Fund seeks to strengthen the Canadian sound recording industry from creator to audience. Various programs financially support the different activities of the industry and help strengthen its position.

Canada Book Fund

The principal objective of the Canada Book Fund (formerly known as the Book Publishing Industry Development Program) is to ensure access to a diverse range of Canadian-authored books in Canada and abroad. The Canada Periodical Fund (CPF) provides financial assistance to the Canadian magazine and non-daily newspaper industries. The fund has three components: Aid to Publishers, Business Innovation, and Collective Initiatives

Development Information Program (DIP)

DIP provides financial support to mass media development and educational initiatives development aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of international development and international cooperation.

Festivals Performance Program / Skills and Screens Program

The Festivals Performance Program offers funding support to feature film festivals with attendance figures of 100 000 and above. The Skills and Screens Program is aimed at festivals and at professional development activities.

Marquee Tourism Events Program (MTEP)

Funding under the MTEP is available to support costs associated with new activities, programs or experiences that enhance a tourism event. A marquee event is defined as an annually recurring world-class event that is well established and has a long-standing tradition of programming and management excellence.
